The Original "Dreamgirls"...

Check out this video of Jennifer Holliday, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Loretta Devine, and other original cast members of "Dreamgirls" performing "It's All Over" and "And I'm Telling You (I'm Not Going)" on the 1982 Tony Awards. They did an excellent job, Jennifer Holliday's voice is crazy. I am really looking forward to Jennifer Hudson's version of "And I'm Telling You", I know she won't top Miss Holliday, but I'm sure she'll do an amazing job. I can not wait for the movie version of "Dreamgirls" to come out!!!

Dee, I'm like you I can not wait until this movie comes out and if I had a blog I would be talking about it all the time too! I guess that's why I come here everyday! I already know I will see at least 100 times, I love the story and they picked an excellent cast.

Nobody can sing that song like Jennifer, but I believe Fantasia would rip it if she had been cast in the updated version.

WHY IS THE PRESS SPOONFEEDING US DREAMGIRLS LIKE IT IS GOING TO BE THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER, JUST BECAUSE BEYONCE IS IN IT! SHE IS NOT AN ACTRESS, DAMN! IF ANGELA BASSET DIDN'T GET AN OSCAR FOR TINA TURNER, BEYONCE BETTER NOT EVEN BE NOMINATED FOR AN OSCAR NEXT YEAR! THE MEDIA IS SO PHONEY! BUT I GUESS IF THEY CAN GIVE HALLE BERRY AN OSCAR FOR SUCKING BILLY BOBS WHITE DICK THEN I GUESS BEYONCE SHOULD GET ONE!

^^the press is talking bout the movie becuz all good people inthe movie. Eddie murphy, Jamie Foxx, Danny Glover, not just Beyonce. you must be jealous of her cuz why you focusing on her

Anonymous

I AM TIRED OF PEOPLE GOING ON & ON ABOUT WHAT HALLE BERRY DID IN MONSTER'S BALL ..SHE WON THE OSCAR BECAUSE SHE CAN PLAY THE F**K OUT OF A ROLE!!! SHE CAN MAKE YOU BELIEVE SHE IS THAT CHARACTER. SHE WON BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T PLAY IT SAFE SHE DID WTF ACTORS GET PAID THE BIG BUCKS TO DO...NOW THAT P.DIDDY HE DON'T EVEN NEED TO BE ALLOWED WITHIN 10 YARDS OF A MOVIE THEATER! HIS ACTING COACH SHOULD BE SHOT...I DON'T KNOW WHICH WAS MORE PAINFUL TO WATCH...HALLE'S CHARACTER BEATING HER FAT SON FOR HIDING CANDY OR DIDDY'S SCENES ROFL

yea beyonce ain't too good of a actress but this is a musical and she got a nice voice.

I think that song is the most "sang" sung ever sung. Jennifer Holiday riznipped it. It's prolly the most sang or attempted song on Apollo theater to date.

For those over 30 and not knowing... I find it hard to believe--unless you're not black.

But let's get it straight: Whatever Beyonce does in the movie will be a bootleg of the original. That's the greates song ever sang and she will be doing her best to replicate that.

On another note: I cain't help to think how'd I'd react if I had a 300+ lbs woman singing like that telling me to stay. I'd be like, "Damn...Okay, okay, okay. Just keep it down! Shit."

I dont think beyonce would be singing the song. Jennifer would.

To anon12:58 & 1:41 I am talking about beyonce because that is all the press makes you think is in the movie! Thank You Very Much! And my comment about Halle Berry was not to tear her down because she should have gotten an Oscar a long time ago for Loosing Isaiah and/or Jungle Fever I am simply saying that whitey wants to finally recognize her for a role like sucking billy bobs white dick; to me that was a slap in the face! To you thats breaking barriers and knocking down doors????? I don't know who raised you or who you heard that from but WHAT THE FUCK EVER! TELL YOUR DAUGHTER GO SUCK SOME DICKS AND THE ONLY DOOR SHE WILL BE KNOCKING DOWN IS THE CLINICS! PEACE! OH AND i AM NOT JEALOUS OF NO BODY!

There is no way possible that Beyonce's little pre-teen voice is going to be able to sing that song with the strength, range and emotion. So, hopefully Jennifer will get that part. She loved that man, damn! I need some Dick like that in my life!

^^if you are familiar with Dreamgirls Deena (Bee's character) doesn't sing that song ('And I am telling you'). Jennifer Hudson from American Idol is playing Effie and that is who will sing that song in the movie, not Beyonce. Jennifer Hudson has the role that Jennifer Holiday had so I don't know why ya'll keep saying Beyonce can't do because she thats not even her role. She not singing that song anyway cause that is not her part. Jennifer Hudson is going to sing 'And I'm telling you' in the movie so get it right

Bitch,
That's why I said I HOPE Jennifer is singing the Goddamn song. Were you on the set of the movie, did you read the script, did you assign the parts? We are asking questions not making statements. Stop getting so fucking serious over people who don't even know us or care what we are saying.

Just watched the original performance on here. I was always a fan of the song " I'm telling You ". Bu tto watch Jennifer Holliday perform it , leaves my ass speechless. It's evident that she has the power in her voice that can't be replicated. i don't care who you put next to her. In this decade or the last three. Absolutely noone can top that shit ! Jennifer Holliday did what most great singers can't. She took someone else's song , made it her own , and sang that shit to death. NOONE can top that. The best you can do is see how close someone can come to doing a half assed job at replicating it. Someone topping Jennifer Holliday singing " I'm Telling You " , is like Michael Jordan's records being shattered by some new rookie. Besides , even if someone new did....who gives a fuck ? It's nothing like the first time, I don't care who comes after that.

I totally agree with you. That was one of the best movies of the year. I think ALL the players did a great job and that includes Beyonce. She sang "Listen" with the intensity and passion of a legend. The movie made you feel everything. Hats off to all of the casting members. Jennifer Hudson should have made Jennifer Holiday proud because she sang the sh*t out of that song!!!

This is a movie for everyone to see. It is very entertaining, the music was great! Effie's brother in the movie was even great.

I truly enjoyed Jennifer Holiday in the play, she was awesome!! I didn't think anyone could get close to her version of I'm telling you. But, Jennifer Husdon, how Ironic they have the same initials. She must have her little sister genes, because Jennifer Hudson was awesome as well, everyone at the movie cinema holler, screamed, cried and shouted. She played the part of Effie White with such exhilarating, invigorating, exciting, intensity. She deserves a Grammy, Golden Award, as well as Oscar. She is truly Oscar material.

I am so proud of her. Also the rest of the cast was awesome too. In Particular, the young lady that played Lorrell, Anika Aoni Rose.
