Jada and Mary for "Carol's Daughter"...

Check out these pictures of Jada Pinkett-Smith and Mary J. Blige for "Carol's Daughter". They both look beautiful in the shots. I've been hearing so much about "Carol's Daughter" for a long time, but I have yet to try any of their products. I have sensitive skin and I'm scared it might make me break out but I think I just might go ahead try it out. Maybe I can get a "glow" like Mary's...

Carol's daughter is made by an African American woman no animal testing natural ingredients. As many know skin of Black women can be very sensitive as well as dry. Only use the products designated for each body part. The hair products only for hair etc. The body butter can be used for the whole body except for the face. The facial products are great but if you are sensitive stay away from the products with frangrance. There is an internet business but there are also two stores one in Harlem and one in Ft. Greene Brooklyn.

is jada suggesting that her hair is actually real and not a weave? someone help me out here.

^Her hair is real, Jay Manuel from Top Model was on E! talking about how nice her hair is and he said that people think she wear a weave but she don't. It was the fashion police when they were doing the Oscar red carpet

ah... how i love Carol's Daughter. good stuff. the ads look great. Jada & Mary look beautiful, they're both glowing.

Um I really wouldn't be too hype to buy products from two ppl. wearing weaves. Jada doesn't always wear them, but she does a lot. Also, Carol's Daughter's products use to be hot, but she's sold out with the investment money that has come in, the products are no longer all natural because they needed to be mass produced to stay on the shelf longer since they're sold at Sephora now. Y'all watch out for a new all natural haircare line coming out soon called Soulfull.

These pics are gorgeous. And the products are marketed to women without weaves, they are for any woman who wants to use them. Geez!

These pics are really pretty.

Take the weave out and them put it back in after you use the product.

Many of Carol's Daughter products are still all-natural, but she did have to adjust some to increase shelf life for mass production. I used to pick up the jars and stores and be turned off by the greasiness of everything...I like the new formulations better. YOu do have to be careful about allergies though...I had a freind who found out she was allergic to the almond oil, and the apricot oil (which has been removed from some of the products) broke me out a little, not badly but still.
But overall, I became a big fan after getting it as a gift. I mean Lisa Price started this company in her basement, ran it for years for a cult following and now she's in major stores. More power to her.

I used a few of their products and I don't like them. They are waaaaaaaaay to greasy. I like to moisturize my skin and hair, but it felt like I just jumped in a huge tube of Vaseline. They cost too much too.

If you have sensitive skin order the pure shea butter. I think it is just shea and cocoa butter. The products are the BOMB! Try the hair products too. I love her bath salts.

By the way, ALL of her products are not too greasy. They have different levels of oiliness and you have to find which one suits your skin and hair type. That is why there are testers in the store locations. The products that I use are all natural but then again I buy directly from the stores. Because they are all natural it is suggested that you refrigerate unused portions. Her products are equally and sometimes better than these products some people on here run out and overpay for full of ingredients they can't even pronounce and then wonder what is wrong with them and why they have eczema and all kinds of problems. Also, the hair and skin products for the most part have the same ingredients - a base of shea butter and other natural oils so you can use them interchangably. I have used the products for over 5 years and I highly recommend them. I have certain products that I've found work well for me and that is what you must do. What is good for one person is not necessary good for the next which is why she has a VARIETY of products. Some people need to expand their horizons a little and stop being so negative about everything. Oh yeah and big ups to this sister for A. Starting her own business and nurturing it the way she has IN HER COMMUNITY and B. getting the support of stars to help her realize her dream. Let's open out minds children.

Why is it so strange to think that Jada's hair is not a weave? There are lots of black women with long hair.

Anonymous

I KNOW BLACK WOMEN HAVE NATURAL LONG HAIR BUT WHAT JADA GOT IS A WEAVE OR PIECES ADDED...

I think Carol's Daughter is overrated. The scents never smell like what they're described.
I bought some Honey Puddin' -- it smells like hair grease.
The "Wet Lip Shine" smells horrible and tastes even worse.
Healthy Hair Butter has too much beeswax -- it just weighs my hair down.

It's like 100 different ways to mix cocoa butter, shea butter, various oils and call it a brand new product.

Anonymous

said...

awwww...Jada & Mary look SO pretty.

Anonymous

said...

Actually it is that serious...and when she first produced the products they were "brand new." The scents are exactly as described...honey pudding doesn't smell like honey...it smells like mango, lavander or whatever scent it is mixed with..if it's not for you then don't criticize the whole company. She must be doing something right since she has done as much as she has thusfar.

I'm sure she's doing something right. Someone is surely buying her cocoa shea mix of the month.
Better production values and much better customer support has vastly helped her company.
But I do believe I'm free to state an opinion about the products --- regardless of the success of the company or not.

We're so quick to shut disagreeing viewpoints down here.

"ABOUT THE WEAVE THING - JADA IS NOT FULL BLACK!! PEOPLE TEND TO FORGET SHE IS A MIXED BREED."

You stupid cunt, she is NOT mixed. Are you one of those self-hating niggers that thinks that only "mixed breed" women are beautiful and can grow hair? That's bullshit and you are wrong. You are a disgrace to whatever race you belong to.

Nice...way to assume that the poster was a woman and then proceed to denigrate all women with misogynistic name-calling

As for as CD products, I agree with the posters who think that her products are overhyped, overly-greasy and over-priced...the main ingredient in a lot of her products is corn oil (like you can buy for cooking!) and I don't know why this is "better" or "more natural" than mineral oil. Also the amaretto seed she uses to dye say the Mango Body Butter stained my clothes.

I would like to support her but not just because she is (minimally in terms of features) black.

Pinkie -

i agree!! ever since carol's daughter got so high profile, she has discontinued my very favorite body spray - BABY SOFT.

i also loved green tea and that's gone, too.

there used to be so many scents to pick from, now she has narrowed it down to SIX!!!!

another thing, are her new "eau de toilette" sprays the same formula as her old body sprays? because i can't wear perfume with too high of an alcohol content in them, which is why is started using her products to begin with.

i have been a loyal customer for over 6 years and now i am just so upset, i'll have to find another brand of beauty products...

no im confused is jada full black or not because i wana know if those products actually made her hair grow longer??

I don't know if Jada is biracial and I really don't think it matters. EVERYONE is entitled to an opinion and not all of them are going to be FAVORABLE to the company. I admit, I purchased the products because on a leaflet, Jada said the particular product I purchased "made her hair grow". After viewing the site, I purchased what I felt would work best for my hair and it DIDN'T WORK FOR ME. It made my hair very GREASEY and weighed down. My hair began to break and split and if anything, I felt my growth was stunted, esp after seeing a significant growth spurt when taking amino acids and vitamins from GNC. So sorry, it didn't work for me and I went back to GNC and I'm seeing more growth again. Celebrity endorsement does not necessarily yield automatic success.

said...

Has anyone ever considered that Jada may have grown her hair long and may ALSO wear extensions to add volume or extra length? It's the stylists, not the celebrities, that create the looks for advertising photo shoots such as what we see for Carol's Daughter. Regardless, why do so many of us have to be "crabs in a barrel"? Jada and Mary look great. If the posters are curious about the products, then they should purchase them. If they are not satisfied with the results, then don't buy them again. It seems simple to me.

Hi, I m wriiting from france so sorry for mistakes.
I was reading your comment about carols daughter products. That look cool . I never tried them cause we don't have in france. But i like watch the website...I ve got a question for you if someone can help me. You said you can fin carols daughter products in sephora US but do they put this in home spa products area or ethnic products? Cause in sephora France they open like a ethnic area where you can find some Softsheen, Iman, Kannelia every brand for black peope and that shit that only for business... Thank you for the answer...chabinot@hotmail.com

I have been using Carol's Daughter for over a month now, and I like the products. Why must so many people talk trash about someone else's success? If you don't like the product, just don't buy it anymore. But don't talk shit. Besides, some products are not made for everyone.

I think it is cool to get on the website and voice opinions, whether good or bad. We must realize that one persons opinion does not speak for the whole bunch, again, whether good opinion or bad opinion. I make my own soaps, candles, shea butter this mango that, I buy all of my things from a wholesale distributor. I believe Carol's prices are expensive especially when you've never tried them. If a customer is angry about colors bleeding, or if she received the purchase of her life, I think everyone should voice their opinions. Especially if the owner of the product is reading the website...As far as Jada and Mary...I think she should have gotten someone with natural hair, not weave and yes they wear weave to illustrate the products. Not use investors, of course, they will tell you what you want to hear, the business is to make money. When you use all of those butters together, yes it will be oily. Jojoba is really a wax, but it pours like oil...They have beneficial properties though. So, to the readers, writers or purchasers that are told you are receiving all natural products, it is very upsetting to learn that you aren't after trusting and investing money into something. I read the ingredients in Carol's Daughters, and sometimes the scents that are blended may smell nice at first, but, by the time they sit on the shelf, then ship..you're talking a whole new ballgame..The scent has settled and smells very faint, or nothing like you thought. It is really bad there are no recipes on her webite. I see where other people who are doing the same thing as Carol's Daughters, they not only sell, but give free recipes, which keeps you coming back to the website. But, hey I guess they don't have the celebrity thing going. But, that shouldn't make a hill of beans just because will and jada, mary, jay-z are investors. I've never known Jada to be biracial, both her parents on drugs really bad, mom was a heroin addict and her dad is still on crack in Baltimore.

Hey ladies,

I've tried about three of her products. The first two I ordered from the website and the last one I bought from Sephora. I am not mixed, I am west African! I tried the small container (4 oz.) of "Mimosa Honey", and um, I've had a mimosa and it smelled nothing like a mimosa or honey for that matter. Oh, and there is no honey in it. I won't lie she does love the beeswax and the corn oil, if you use more than a quarter size (max.) of this stuff you will be a grease ball! I have relaxed hair that's medium in thickness and length. The smell I didn't care for so much, it kind of made me nauseous, and that's another reason to use sparingly, it smells really "citrusy" but very chemical at the same time. I used it on damp hair right before I blow dry, and it makes my hair sooo soft and gives me the best blow out ever! On dry hair it wasn't that impressive it kind of just caked and sat there, it didn't absorb very well. And when it finally did it just left my hair greasy! I also used the "Lisa's Hair elixir". It's basically peppermint oil plus lol. If you like peppermint you'll love this. I used it to deep condition my hair. It feels so good!If anyone has ever used "seabreeze" on their hair then the effect of this product is really similar to that. It literally opens every pore on your head and gives you a cooling and tingling sensation, and even if you rinse and blow dry you can still smell the peppermint in your hair but it's not nearly as strong as when applied on dry hair ( it makes my eyes water!), it nice and light, and your hair feels softer not as soft as when you use the mimosa honey however. On dry hair once again not so impressed, the smell is too strong. I'm a student, and when I would apply it to dry hair ppl four rows behind me could smell the peppermint in the lecture hall. In a lecture hall of 500 ppl, one time the lecturer stopped what she was saying and asked if anyone smelled peppermint, I was damn near in the back of the room. And it doesn't absorb as well or make my hair feel conditioned, just greasy. Last night I just bought the big container (8 oz.) of "healthy hair butter". I put it on dry hair and so far... me likey. It absorbs really well and it's not nearly as greasy as "mimosa honey". My hair feels soft and very conditioned from root to tip. I don't think I'll use it every day, probably every other day but so far I like it. The smell is very "patchouli-cedar like" but it's very light and you don't really smell it unless you're all up in the jar. It says you have to refrigerate it and I do. I don't know exactly why b/c when I bought it from Sephora ( for $13.13, tax included) it was sitting on the shelf, all the way in the back I might add. My guess is because it is a really soft solid, it might melt and separate or something. I don't know, I just keep it in the fridge like they tell you to. Haven't used it on my hair wet yet, but I don't think I will need to. The others were just to non-absorbent and greasy but this one is good so far. I guess it's true you just have to find the right one. I would highly recommend this for relaxed hair! Natural hair might want to try the "mimosa honey" for extra conditioning. I like Carol's daughter products possibly for the simple fact that I like what Lisa Price is all about (her story that is), hell if Oprah, herself came out with hair care products that she actually used on her hair I'd probably try it! I would rather give my money to an up and coming Africa - American woman, who has hair like mine and understands my hair than some caucasian man who makes products for me as side project, after he makes products on how to "bring out your brillaint blonde" but really knows nothing personally about my hair type or texture other than some paragraph he read in some flaky mag. Yeah her stuff is on the pricey side compared to other in the beauty store but if you find the right product, it's worth it. I mean, we spend so much money on other things and other name brand products for our hair. We should help a sister out! lol At least try it, I'm not saying use something that does nothing for you, just try it...

P.S.
Sorry for my ridiculously long post. I hope it helped someone ;)

I am a new user to Carol's Daughter and I am so very pleased with it. I use Lisa's Hair Elixir and the Hair Milk. Both products smell great and moisturize my hair without leaving my hair greasy. Neither do they irritate my scalp. I just finished eight months of chemotherapy and my hair is about an inch long. I am wearing it natural, healthy, and proud. Carols Daughter products enhance the natural curl pattern in my hair and makes it easier to manage.
