On January 9th Oprah attended the cast change celebration in New York welcoming new cast members BeBe Winans, Chaka Kahn and Lakisha Jones (Remember her from American Idol?) to the show. Fantasia ended her run as Celie on January 6th and newcomer Zonya Love started in the role on January 9th.
January 9 will also mark the arrival of Grammy winners Chaka Khan and Bebe Winans in the roles of, respectively, Sofia and Harpo. "American Idol" finalist LaKisha Jones, who joined the cast Dec. 19 in the role of the Church Soloist, will also play Sofia at matinee performances beginning Jan. 9.[Playbill]
