She seems to be such a wonderful person. She is so beautiful inside and out. Unlike others, everything she does seems to mean something.

she is a beautiful person and it's really good to see that she cares..

so proactiv works?

Alot of African American celebrities do things to help empower other people, But it is never recognized in the Media eyes. I think Alicia is very talented and kind hearted, i am glad she is showing her support for the most deadly disease.

Who ever made the comment about proactiv is trying to be funny, get a life, you probly have acne your damn self, and with Alicia being on the road alot of course her skin is going to break out. Quit being dumb.

Her hair is always pretty. I really want to go to Africa.

so...what about the kids over here with aids? does this org. help them too?

Yeah a lot of black people don't get recognized for their efforts, but we are quickly scrutinized for our mistakes. I guess because were black that we are less human. Damn her hair is braided pretty, didn't reall pay attention to that.

it's nice to ses a celeb do something other than shop!

Cornrows does not make you BLACK. Alicia Keys is at the most 25% black. If she wasn't in it for the music R&B scene, she'd probably mark "W" (white) on her job application & pass.

^^^^^SOOOOO FUCKING WHAT!ANON 1:58

Anonymous

That is what I am talking about use your fame for something besides wearing high fashion shoes. For the person who is breaking down %'s in my history book and in this world that one drop rule still applies.

she couldnt pass. some of her features wouldnt allow it. but i feel like an idiot for replying to such an ignorant comment by ANON 1:58.

Anonymous

Anon. 1:58. STFU Keys is more black then you are stupid.

Anonymous

said...

anon. 158 it doesnt matter if she is 100 percent black or 5 percent black she see's a need and she is helping that need and that is all that matter. dont be stuck on the idea of color so much because we as a people need to help each other more than we do now. i am a black man and i can appreciate the fact not only is she a black female helping out she is a woman in general that is helping out

Anonymous

said...

For real what does her color have to do with anything? she makes wonderful music and shes a wonderful person. I dont ever see her trying to be something she is not. more young artist need to be that way

Anonymous

Cynthia McFadden asked Ms Keys about herf race. Alicia replied that she was Black. Have you seen her father? He is 100% Black.

hair = fab.
clothes = fab.
skin = might wanna up the dosage of proactiv...
body = on point.

Anonymous

First of all alicia keys is black weather she is mixed with other things or not. What does her race have to do with her as an artist?

Anonymous

I admire celebrities who do good works. But, have you all noticed the backlash against them? Right away people start saying how "annoying" they are, and how "pretentious", etc. Look at the backlash against Angelina Jolie...

^^I don't mean at this site, on this thread, by the way. I mean on celeb blogs/news in general...

Cosign @ anon 2:10. Celebs doing good things for others, thumbs up!!
Put that talent, money and those resources to use. God knows they need it in Africa!

And I luv her in cornrows!!

Okay, why is there always a damn fool who has to question somebody's blackness??? Alicia is black and she's doing much more than many black people ever could or would do for the African people. You think she has to be there?? She could easily be off relaxing in Trinidad. Instead she's being a real person trying to help others.

Wow!, this is a first. Meaningful pictures and not vacation or dining pictures of beyonce and family. The site is maturing I see. It's about time and good to see a different face on here. So tired of the others already, I stopped viewing the site because of it. Overall, good improvement.

^^Do us all a favor and STFU

where exactly in africa did she go ? the continent is damn diverse!

Anonymous

Anon 9:33, Please shut up, this has nothing to do with B & J, so get some business. You sound dumb.

Anonymous

For someone to claim they haven't been looking at this site you sure do know a lot about it. Whateva. Keep it movin'. I'm sure you ain't missed.

^@ Anon 12:08 PM

i heard she visited kenya and uganda.

Anonymous

said...

It's just a publicity stunt to take photos - she did nothing. Who goes to help AIDS victims in full-face makeup?

Anonymous

said...

God, I hope she's doing this for the right reason. I'm sick of celebs pimpin Africa, think Jessica Simpson and Operation Smile you know that chick didn't give a shit

Anonymous

said...

I'm not going to call anyone a hater because we're all entitled to our opinion but I think it's irrelevant that she had on make-up or whether or not she's doing this for the "right" reason. She's visiting people that expect to see a celebrity as she looks on t.v.--maybe that's why she had it on or maybe it's because it gives her confidence to meet new people. Who knows? Who cares? The fact is she was THERE--make-up and all. As for the "right" reason--that's irrelevant too. She's doing SOMETHING that's helping somebody and her motivation for doing it doesn't matter--the result is still the same. I understand wanting someone to do a good deed because it's truly heartfelt but even if it's not, the good deed has still been done.

THANKS nee.....AND ON THAT NOTE ENOUGH SAID BYE......

Anonymous

AFRICA is a continent for goodness sake, and she went to South Africa!

Anonymous

said...

How can you say it doesn't matter if she does it for the right reason. Think of politicians here that get behind charities, simply as a means to an end. Sure, they may bring some change but it's only short term. I think it's worse off for people when there's an initial outpouring of help but 2,3 years down the line they are left to fend for themselves. We need people interested in providing long term help and assistance to countries in Africa. Think Oprah!

Anonymous

said...

Why can't a sister wear makeup to Africa?? Who says you must look a hot mess to help out. Get over yourselves butt munchers.

Anonymous

said...

I agree with the comment about long term help. If it were any other celeb I would question their motives but with it being Alicia I think she's probably down for the right reasons.

Anonymous

said...

WHERE IN AFRICA THOUGH?? AFRICA IS ONE BIG ASS CONTINENT (ROLLS EYES)

Anonymous

said...

I agree with ANON 9:33, and it's crazy how a few got upset over it. So defensive for a person you don't know. These pictures are indeed meaningful, and it's good to see this on the site. A chance to be non igonorant.

Anonymous

Alicia K. is a lez right?

Anonymous

lololllll

Anonymous

9:33 is on point, It is nice to see a little diverisity on these sites-who wants the same thing all the time, I mean we will get tired of talking about B's weaves one day.

I also agree with 2:21, Africa gets pimped and it is important that these artist have a goal and true devotion to these causes other than there own ego. It matters whether artist invest in these problems or whether they just sign on for all expense paid trip with no regard for whether the issues are really addressed. You got to put your money where your mouth is, a la Oprah's Angel Network. All this stuff matters in the long run cause often times the artist are getting a free trip and good publicity. It is in to be associated with a cause these days- making a difference should matter more though.

And moreover while the African Continent does need help- we got our own issues that these artist could work on too. Everybody don't all have to rush over to Africa- get yo backyard straight.

I will leave it at that.
