ANTM Press Conference...

Soooo, the "America's Next Top Model" press conference took place yesterday and I was invited to participate, which I did. I got to ask Ken Mok, Jay Manuel and Nigel Barker a question and this is a summary of how it went. It's not word for word because I suck at taking notes (I could never be a reporter), some other stuff was said but you get the gist)...

Dee: I noticed that none of the girls in this season of "Top Model" are plus-sized, was it a conscious decision to have no plus-sized girls on this cycle?
Jay: What do you consider plus-sized?
Dee: I don't know, sixteen?
Jay: Tocarra stood out, going back to her - the situations that arose proved to be challenging for her, and she really didn't stand out. It's all about whether or not you have it, it's about how you present yourself.
Nigel and Ken: Tell the girls to come out. I'd love to see 1 or 2 plus-sized girls on the show. I think plus-sized girls are beautiful, but girls, have faith in yourselves - it's all about believing in yourself!
Jay: I do think that a plus-sized girl could win ANTM, and I believe in that 100%.

When he asked me what I considered plus-sized my brain kinda blanked out. I realized I don't really know exactly what size "plus-sized" is. I think plus-sized starts at a size 12 or 14 but I wasn't sure, so I just guessed a size that I thought fit the description of plus-sized and said 16. But whatever, just sharing my brain-freeze moment. They, Ken Nigel and Jay, both were really nice. I am really bad at taking notes so you can click the link below to read another participant's summary of the conference. The conference was pretty interesting so check out the link...

^WOW! I'm pretty petite but I don't think a 14 should be considered a PLUS size...

The term "plus size" has sort of become a loose term. Some "plus size" stores start at 16 or 18 and go up. H&M's plus sized section (which sadly is now defunct I believe) started at 14.

The body of an average woman, however, ranges between a size 8 and a size 14, so anything above that is generally considered "plus size."

Personally, I would love to see an ANTM that was ONLY plus sized models. Being a PS girl myself, it would give me hope that the fashion industry is changing.

^^^Correction, I never said plus-sized was a bad thing. I used the term "plus-sized" because that is the term used for those sizes (14 and up). My mother shops in "plus-sized" stores (Ashley Stewart, Lane Bryant, etc.) and she said that their sizes start at 14. You have issues with the term "plus-sized", not me. Oh yeah,my cheeks have been fat all my life and I love them. I never said I was skinny, I'm far from it. So I don't understand your issue with me when all I did was state a fact.
Thank you for a checking out my site. Have a blessed day
