Don't Ask Amerie About Her Ethnicity...

Amerie recently said that she would rather hear pick up lines like 'what's your sign' versus hearing 'what are you mixed with'.
She says, "It's weird when guys rush you and approach and say, 'So what are you, like, Filipino?' I'm like, 'You seem more interested to know what my background is than what do I like to do? How often do I come here? What my name is?'

"That kinda turns me off because I think it's really shallow."
But maybe they really just want to know what her ethnicity is. When she first came out I wondered what she was mixed with because, well, she looks mixed!

And in case you are wondering, and you're afraid to ask Amerie, her father is black and her mother is Korean.
