Sean Penn: The Leaky Hero

Oscar award winning actor Sean Penn decided to help with the rescue efforts for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Sean Penn got on his own boat with a crew of helpers and his personal photographer. They were able to help several people get to dry land, they also gave the people money.

Johnnie Brown, 73, a retired custodian, called his sister on a cell phone after being plucked from his flooded house. "Guess who come and got me out of the house? Sean Penn the actor. Them boys were really nice," he said.

Asked what he was doing in the disaster zone, Penn said, "Whatever I can do to help."

But it was also reported that during his rescue effort his boat started to leak.

Penn had planned to rescue children and adults in the flood waters, but apparently forgot to plug a hole in the bottom of the vessel, which began taking water within seconds of its launch.

The paper reports that one bystander taunted the actor saying, "How are you going to get any people in that thing?"

All I have to say is at least he is doing something to help the victims. Leak or no leak, he was still able to save a few people.

This is the worst thing in my lifetime that has happened in the United States. It is so sad. Everyone please try to give something, any thing, no matter how small or big - it will help them.
